Veils
I make the Veil paintings by brushing bands of fluid paint and medium onto colored oil grounds, delineating the shimmering bands of color in the final compositions with subtractive tools. In the Veil paintings, I’m referencing internal states that occur in deep meditation practice.
I use the properties of fluid paint to make visual representations of experiential, sensory phenomena, like vibration, radiance, a sense of expanding or dissolving space. I feel these paintings are successful when they evoke stillness and contemplative states in people who view them.
